Vera Lea (George) Hill passed away July 27, 2020. Vera was born in Anthony to Perry George and Novada (Ball) George on June 26,1943. Vera was raised on the farm south of Manchester until her father passed away, then the family moved to Anthony.
William (Willie) Hill met Vera and they got married on October 6, 1962. Brenda was born the following April. They were married 55 years before Willie's death.
Vera wanted her little girl to have all the pretty clothes that were in the stores, but her and Willie just couldn't afford it. So, Vera taught herself how to sew. Vera ended up not just sewing, but she became a seamstress. She made a lot of school clothes for Brenda and her niece Shelly. Vera even made Brenda's wedding dress and flowers. She also did craft shows for several years. (If you went by the Funeral Home Brenda shared some of her mom's beautiful quilts).
Vera enjoyed family dinners on Sunday's, her specialty was fried chicken, mashed potatoes and gravy with all the trimmings. Withthe occasional ham, scalloped potatoes and green beans fresh from Willie's garden.
Vera loved her grandchildren and great-grandchildren so much. She enjoyed going to ball games, programs, and spoiling them like crazy. Vera worked at the Supreme Market and later went to KanOkla Telephone, where she worked for over 40 years.
Vera will be missed by her daughter Brenda and husband Terry Craig, grandsons Austin and Dustin Craig, granddaughter Mattie and husband Greg Passet. She will also be missed by her great-grandchildren Blake,Chesney and Granger, her sisters Roberta Toner and Marilyn Arnett, her beloved cats and all other family and friends.
Vera was proceeded in death by her husband Willie Hill, parents Perry and Novada George, brother Raymond George.
Graveside service and interment was held Thursday, July 30, at 10:00 a.m. at the Manchester Cemetery, Manchester, Oklahoma.
