Obituary

In loving memory of

Jackie Keith Vogt

June 18, 1932  -  February 26, 2021

Jackie Keith Vogt passed from this life on February 26, 2021 at Harry Hynes Memorial Hospice in Wichita.  Jack Vogt was born in Keenesburg, CO on June 18, 1932 to Herman and Zelma (Clinesmith) Vogt.   The Vogt family moved to Wakita, OK in 1945, where Jack attended high school and where he was an All-State running back.  Jack met the love of his life, Donna Koehler, and they were married December 30, 1955 in the little white church on the country corner between Wakita and Manchester.   Jack was in the US Air Force at the time.  After discharge, Jack and Donna moved to Wichita, where he worked as a certified A&E aircraft mechanic at Boeing and Cessna; and then to Anthony, KS in 1957 where they have lived ever since.  Jack also worked at C & S Welding, Kan-Okla Telephone, and as owner of a telephone installation and repair business.

Jack had a fierce love of family, instilling a strong work ethic and a passion for always doing your best.  He was a fixture at his kids’ school functions and ball games; the most vocal supporter and sometimes coach.  His sports passion was golf, which he passed down to his children. He was a big fan of the KU Jayhawks and could be seen sharing the news of the day and opinions at the morning coffee gathering of friends at the local McDonalds.

Jack was preceded in death by his sister, Virginia Levan, and is survived by his wife, Donna, his sons, Mike (Karen) of Valley Center, KS, John (Sonja) of Wichita, KS, Dick (Ruth) of Council Bluffs, IA, and daughters, Jacki Conrady of Augusta, KS and Sheri Myers (Greg) of Houston, TX, 15 grandchildren and 25 great grandchildren.
